From the perspective of an implementing agency, a Wadi project has three distinct stages:
- In the pre-establishment stage the area for development under Wadi is selected. Subsequently, families and fruit tree varieties are selected. Pre-plantation activities are planned and undertaken.
- The establishment stage relates to the main period of project implementation. It is spread over a period of around 5 years, from plantation of fruit trees till the trees start bearing fruit.
- The post-establishment stage relates to the post-project period, when Wadi plot-holders will continue to require supply of inputs and guidance, but without substantial or direct project support.
